A five-day hands-on training for students

University is a great learning environment, but it doesn’t always teach all the skills you need to be successful in a professional development team.

We have put together this five-day training, where you will learn cutting edge tools, and do hands-on exercises on the best practices of the modern era of Continuous Delivery and DevOps in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

You will get tips and tricks from professionals about how to use Git, Docker, Jenkins… but also do some testing and problem solving. And yes, some Lego games will be part of the training course!

On the last day, you will work in teams to put your new learnings into practice, and get a CoDe Academy diploma that you can add to your CV.

We organized four Continuous Delivery Academies in 2017 in different universities: Chalmers in Gothenburg, HiOA in Oslo, IT University in Copenhagen and Aarhus University. In 2018, we organized one in Odense (Summer).

The broader picture

The course is run as instructor-led, where each tool have iterations on presenting each topic followed by live demos, lab exercises or discussions.

With Git we give you an introduction to the concepts of the defacto standard version control system and how it differs from older alternatives. We will teach you how to get started with Git, and how to efficiently collaborate with your team members around your code.

With Docker you learn how to build self-contained applications packed in Docker images. We take you through building, integrating and running containers. You’ll learn how Docker work, and how to best take advantage of application stack as code. In the end you will learn how you can deploy containers on your own host.

With Jenkins as your Continous Integration server, you gain ways of testing your code before sharing it with the rest of the team, minimizing the risk of having broken code when you need to release.

Together with these tools, we will take you through best practices of workflows, DevOps mindset, the principles behind DevOps and Continuous Delivery.

Who can sign up to this free course?

You’re eligible to enroll for free, if you are either a student or an unemployed recent graduate in a software development discipline. We simply expect participants to be familiar with the linux command line and utilities, and have a basic understanding of coding.
